Jak Crawford (born 2 May 2005 in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States) is an American racing driver, who competes in the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship for Prema Racing.[1] A member of the Red Bull Junior Team, Crawford began his racing career in his native United States, before moving to the European circuit to pursue a seat in Formula One.[1]
Crawford secured his first season in FIA F3 in 2021, joining Hitech Grand Prix for the season alongside Ayumu Iwasa and Roman Staněk for the full campaign.[2] A measured rookie season saw Crawford score points on a relatively frequent basis, with the American youth also scoring a podium finish midway through the season, en-route to thirteenth.[3]
Background[]
Crawford began his career in karting in North America, although would notably compete outside of the US from a young age, including an outing in the ROK Cup at the age of nine.[4] 2018 saw the American youth graduate to single seaters with a seat in the NACAM Formula 4 Championship, finishing second, while also completing a partial campaign in U.S. F2000 as he had been too young to start the season.[4] The American youth then moved across to Europe to race in the Italian and ADAC Formula 4 Champions, finishing as runner-up in the latter to Johnny Edgar by just two points.[4]
For 2021 Crawford would sign a deal to compete in the Euroformula Open Championship alongside a plan to race in FIA F3.[4]
Formula 3 History[]
Crawford was handed his first taste of an FIA Formula 3 Championship car by Hitech Grand Prix at the end of the 2020 season, with the American youth attending both of that season's post-season tests.[5] Crawford duly did enough to secure a full season seat with Hitech for the 2021 season with the British squad, who also signed his fellow Red Bull Junior Ayumu Iwasa, as well as Czech racer Roman Staněk.[2]

Prema Push?: 2022[]
At the end of 2021 Crawford would test with Prema Racing at the end of season test, and duly signed with the Italian squad for the 2022 season, joined by Arthur Leclerc and Oliver Bearman.[1]
